Hi, I’m Karl Gibson and welcome to Industry News Pro!

I started this site in 2015, at a time when I was pivoting from a 14-year editorial/news career and entering into streaming work for film and television. Editorially, many of you in the industry may know me from our work together over during my stints at The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times Co.’s Baseline Research Newsletter, as well as Studio System News/SSN Insider. I am glad you’re here and feel free to (re)connect via the ‘Contact’ tab.

What I didn’t know then was that my pivot would entail becoming a go-to contractor in streaming media for companies including Warner Bros., Netflix, Tubi, Vubiquity, and finally as a studio executive at Disney+ for international series, Marvel series from 2022-2025 and Star Wars: Visions.

As a result, it became pretty much impossible – timewise or practically – to actively update the site, although I did keep it evergreen so that the stories and articles from previous posts can still be found and are definitely worth a read…. or a time-warp comparative!

Now, in 2025, I’ll most likely be posting journals and posts that encompass my career in L.A./Hollywood, from a real and personal perspective, starting back in 2000….less than a year before I joined “The Hollywood Reporter” and my career and life were never quite the same. Again, I’ll keep it real… and I think you’ll like it, if journal/memoirs are your thing!

In the event that I post any curated news, as I originally started this site for, just know that you’re in good hands. The synopsis of each article will be my intro to give readers the gist of the story and I will cite your name, your outlet/site, and an external link, just as you see in the posts that are still here. I love reading, writers, stories and insights; I believe editorial reach is a great and incredible thing.
